Versense
Versense by Versace is a feminine-leaning eau de toilette from 2009 in the designer price tier. It opens with bergamot, mandarin and fig, moves into jasmine, fig leaf and cardamom and dries down to musk, cedarwood and olive blossom. Expect around 5 hours of wear, and it projects softly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Fig Green, milky and jammy at once. One of the most interesting fruits in perfume.
Heart
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Fig Leaf Milky, green and slightly coconut-like. The smell of shade.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
Dry-down
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Olive Blossom Green, faintly bitter white floral. Dry rather than sweet.
