White Musk
White Musk by The Body Shop is a feminine-leaning eau de toilette from 1981 in the budget price tier. It opens with aldehydes and lily of the valley, moves into rose, jasmine and iris and dries down to white musk, vanilla and amber. Expect around 6 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Aldehydes Fizzy, soapy, slightly waxy. The 'sparkle' at the top of Chanel No. 5.
- Lily of the Valley Clean, green, dewy floral. Reads as 'fresh laundry' to most people.
Heart
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Iris Cool, powdery, slightly carroty and expensive. The luxury note.
Dry-down
- White Musk Clean, soft, laundry-like. The 'smells like nothing but better' note.
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
