Golestan
Golestan by Tauer Perfumes is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with bergamot, ylang-ylang, lemon and cinnamon, moves into rose, jasmine, orange blossom and tuberose and dries down to labdanum, patchouli, ambergris and vanilla. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Ylang-Ylang Banana-custard floral. Rich, tropical and slightly rubbery.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
Heart
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Orange Blossom Sweet, soapy and sunny. Neroli's warmer sibling.
- Tuberose Creamy, waxy and enormous. The loudest white flower.
Dry-down
- Labdanum Sticky, leathery resin. Dark honey and old books.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Ambergris Salty, animal, sun-warmed skin. Marine and musky at once.
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
