Patchouli 01 by Swiss Arabian is an unisex eau de parfum in the budget price tier. It opens with lavender, blackcurrant, bergamot, pink pepper, grapefruit and cardamom, moves into geranium, lily of the valley, elemi, orange blossom, pineapple and mint and dries down to patchouli, labdanum, frankincense, oakwood, cashmere wood and vanilla. Expect around 9 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.

Opening

Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
Blackcurrant Tart, dark and slightly catty. Adds bite to florals.
Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
Pink Pepper Fizzy, rosy and bright. Adds sparkle without heat.
Grapefruit Bitter, slightly sweaty citrus. More grown-up than lemon.
Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.

Heart

Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
Lily of the Valley Clean, green, dewy floral. Reads as 'fresh laundry' to most people.
Elemi Peppery resin with a lemon-pine lift. Bright and dry.
Orange Blossom Sweet, soapy and sunny. Neroli's warmer sibling.
Pineapple Tangy, boozy and tropical. Loud and hard to hide.
Mint Cold and tingly. Great in small doses, toothpaste in large ones.

Dry-down

Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
Labdanum Sticky, leathery resin. Dark honey and old books.
Frankincense Bright, peppery, church-like resin. Lifts and cools a fragrance.
Oakwood Dry, toasty barrel wood. Closer to a whisky cask than a forest.
Cashmere Wood Soft, fuzzy, slightly musky wood. Adds a blurred warmth.
Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
