Echoes of St. Moritz
Echoes of St. Moritz by Swiss Arabian is an unisex eau de parfum in the budget price tier. It opens with bergamot, mandarin, grapefruit and red berries, moves into cypress, apple, blackcurrant, artemisia and elemi and dries down to vetiver, leather, cedarwood, oakmoss, patchouli and amber. Expect around 9 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Grapefruit Bitter, slightly sweaty citrus. More grown-up than lemon.
- Red Berries Generic jammy berry blend. Bright, sweet and crowd-pleasing.
Heart
- Cypress Cool, green, resinous conifer. Sharp and clean.
- Apple Crunchy and tart or soft and red, depending on the treatment.
- Blackcurrant Tart, dark and slightly catty. Adds bite to florals.
- Artemisia Bitter and silvery-herbal. Wormwood, the backbone of a fougère.
- Elemi Peppery resin with a lemon-pine lift. Bright and dry.
Dry-down
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
