Coconut Cove
Coconut Cove by Skylar is a feminine-leaning eau de parfum from 2018 in the designer price tier. It opens with bergamot, cardamom and lemon, moves into coconut, jasmine and gardenia and dries down to ambroxan, driftwood, heliotrope and vanilla. Expect around 5 hours of wear, and it projects softly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
Heart
- Coconut Creamy and tropical. Suncream in the best possible way.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Gardenia Creamy white floral with a mushroomy edge. Lush and old-Hollywood.
Dry-down
- Ambroxan Clean, mineral, skin-like warmth. The engine behind most modern 'beast mode' scents.
- Driftwood Salt-bleached and dry. Wood that has been in the sea.
- Heliotrope Almond, vanilla and powder. Smells like marzipan and old-fashioned makeup.
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
