1 Million by Paco Rabanne is a masculine-leaning eau de toilette from 2008 in the designer price tier. It opens with blood orange, grapefruit and mint, moves into cinnamon, rose and spearmint and dries down to leather, amber, tonka bean and patchouli. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects very strongly.

Opening

Blood Orange Orange with a red-fruit edge. Richer and slightly jammy.
Grapefruit Bitter, slightly sweaty citrus. More grown-up than lemon.
Mint Cold and tingly. Great in small doses, toothpaste in large ones.

Heart

Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
Spearmint Softer, sweeter mint. Less medicinal than peppermint.

Dry-down

Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.
Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
