Montabaco Aruba
Montabaco Aruba by Ormonde Jayne is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with bergamot, sweet orange and grapefruit, moves into magnolia, jasmine, rose and violet and dries down to tobacco leaf, leather, cardamom and sandalwood. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Sweet Orange Juicy and cheerful. The friendliest citrus there is.
- Grapefruit Bitter, slightly sweaty citrus. More grown-up than lemon.
Heart
- Magnolia Lemony white floral. Bright and clean rather than heavy.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Violet Powdery, sweet and a bit retro. Parma Violets in flower form.
Dry-down
- Tobacco Leaf Greener and drier than cured tobacco. Hay-like.
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
