Shem
Shem by Nishane is an unisex extrait de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with cardamom, rose and geranium, moves into osmanthus, amber and cypriol and dries down to elemi, vetiver and leather. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
Heart
- Osmanthus Apricot-and-leather floral. Unusual, warm and very wearable.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Cypriol Also called nagarmotha. Smoky, leathery, earthy — a vetiver relative.
Dry-down
- Elemi Peppery resin with a lemon-pine lift. Bright and dry.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
