Indian Oud
Indian Oud by Nishane is an unisex extrait de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with lemon and aldehydes, moves into lavender, mint, pine, eucalyptus, watery notes and oud and dries down to cinnamon, cedarwood, praline and patchouli. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Aldehydes Fizzy, soapy, slightly waxy. The 'sparkle' at the top of Chanel No. 5.
Heart
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
- Mint Cold and tingly. Great in small doses, toothpaste in large ones.
- Pine Sappy and bracing. Straightforwardly outdoorsy.
- Eucalyptus Sharp, camphorous, clears the head. Reads as clean more than green.
- Watery Notes A clear, wet freshness. Less salty than a sea note.
- Oud Resinous, medicinal, barnyard-adjacent wood. The most expensive note in perfumery.
Dry-down
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Praline Caramelised nuts. Sweet, toasty and very moreish.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
