Angel
Angel by Mugler is a feminine-leaning eau de parfum from 1992 in the designer price tier. It opens with bergamot, melon and coconut, moves into honey, red berries and plum and dries down to patchouli, chocolate, caramel and vanilla. Expect around 12 hours of wear, and it projects very strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Melon Soft, watery sweetness. Often paired with aquatics.
- Coconut Creamy and tropical. Suncream in the best possible way.
Heart
- Honey Sweet, waxy and slightly animalic. Can smell dirty in large doses.
- Red Berries Generic jammy berry blend. Bright, sweet and crowd-pleasing.
- Plum Dark, wine-like and slightly stewed. Autumnal.
Dry-down
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Chocolate Sweet, dusty and rich. Can go milk-bar or dark-and-bitter.
- Caramel Burnt sugar. Rich, sticky and unapologetically sweet.
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
