Soleil de Capri
Soleil de Capri by Montale is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with lemon, lime, apple and pear, moves into jasmine, violet, cinnamon and peach and dries down to amber, cedarwood and musk. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects very strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Lime Sharper and greener than lemon. Reads a bit tropical, a bit barbershop.
- Apple Crunchy and tart or soft and red, depending on the treatment.
- Pear Crisp, watery and green-sweet. Clean and modern.
Heart
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Violet Powdery, sweet and a bit retro. Parma Violets in flower form.
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
- Peach Fuzzy, warm and slightly creamy. Soft rather than sharp.
Dry-down
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
