Lucky Candy
Lucky Candy by Montale is a feminine-leaning eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with cocoa, bergamot and honey, moves into marshmallow, neroli, lily of the valley, coconut and frangipani and dries down to vanilla, toffee, amber and musk. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects very strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Cocoa Dry, dusty chocolate. Bitter rather than sweet.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Honey Sweet, waxy and slightly animalic. Can smell dirty in large doses.
Heart
- Marshmallow Soft, sugary and pillowy. Pure comfort.
- Neroli Distilled orange blossom. Green, soapy and elegant.
- Lily of the Valley Clean, green, dewy floral. Reads as 'fresh laundry' to most people.
- Coconut Creamy and tropical. Suncream in the best possible way.
- Frangipani Creamy tropical floral. Suncream adjacent.
Dry-down
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
- Toffee Buttery burnt sugar. Denser and chewier than caramel.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
