Staccato
Staccato by Miller Harris is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, clove and saffron, moves into rose, sambac jasmine, leather and honey and dries down to tobacco, ambergris, birch tar, benzoin and cedarwood. Expect around 6 hours of wear, and it projects softly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Ginger Warm, zesty and slightly soapy. Bridges citrus and spice.
- Clove Hot, dry and dental. Powerful — a little goes a long way.
- Saffron Leathery, medicinal and slightly metallic. The signature of modern niche.
Heart
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Sambac Jasmine Greener, more tea-like jasmine. Less indolic than grandiflorum.
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
- Honey Sweet, waxy and slightly animalic. Can smell dirty in large doses.
Dry-down
- Tobacco Sweet, dried and honeyed. Nothing like a cigarette.
- Ambergris Salty, animal, sun-warmed skin. Marine and musky at once.
- Birch Tar Smoked, tarry and campfire-like. The classic way to build leather.
- Benzoin Sweet balsamic resin. Vanilla-adjacent but drier.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
