Wood Season
Wood Season by Mancera is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with bergamot, mandarin, clary sage, black pepper and cinnamon, moves into marine accord and rose and dries down to labdanum, tonka bean, amber and oakmoss. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Clary Sage Softer, sweeter sage with an ambery undertone. Warm and herbal.
- Black Pepper Dry and prickly. Gives a fragrance grip and a bit of bite.
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
Heart
- Marine Accord Generic 'ocean' — salt, air and water. Clean and uncomplicated.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
Dry-down
- Labdanum Sticky, leathery resin. Dark honey and old books.
- Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
