Black Phantom by Kilian is an unisex eau de parfum from 2017 in the luxury price tier. It opens with rum and coffee, moves into caramel and almond and dries down to sandalwood, vanilla and patchouli. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.

• Rum Boozy, sweet and warm. Adds a grown-up edge to gourmands.
• Coffee Roasted, bitter and dark. Adds edge to sweet fragrances.

Heart

• Caramel Burnt sugar. Rich, sticky and unapologetically sweet.
• Almond Marzipan and cherry-stone. Sweet with a bitter undertone.

Dry-down

• Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
• Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
• Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
