Scandal Le Parfum
Scandal Le Parfum by Jean Paul Gaultier is a feminine-leaning eau de parfum from 2022 in the designer price tier. It opens with mandarin and blood orange, moves into gardenia, orange blossom, peach, jasmine and honey and dries down to patchouli, beeswax, caramel and licorice. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Blood Orange Orange with a red-fruit edge. Richer and slightly jammy.
Heart
- Gardenia Creamy white floral with a mushroomy edge. Lush and old-Hollywood.
- Orange Blossom Sweet, soapy and sunny. Neroli's warmer sibling.
- Peach Fuzzy, warm and slightly creamy. Soft rather than sharp.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Honey Sweet, waxy and slightly animalic. Can smell dirty in large doses.
Dry-down
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Beeswax Honeyed and waxy with a faint barnyard hum underneath.
- Caramel Burnt sugar. Rich, sticky and unapologetically sweet.
- Licorice Sweet anise with a dark, salty edge. Divisive and distinctive.
