Ripe
Ripe by Henry Rose is an unisex eau de parfum in the premium price tier. It opens with lychee, watermelon, green leaves, cardamom and black pepper, moves into jasmine, peony, rose and wisteria and dries down to orcanox, musk and sandalwood. Expect around 6 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Lychee Rosy, watery and delicate. Sweet without being heavy.
- Watermelon Watery, sugary and very summery. Can read a bit sweet-shop.
- Green Leaves Crushed stems and fresh leaves. Snappy, sharp and outdoorsy.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Black Pepper Dry and prickly. Gives a fragrance grip and a bit of bite.
Heart
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Peony Pink, watery and slightly peppery. Modern and inoffensive.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Wisteria Sweet and airy, somewhere between lilac and honeysuckle.
Dry-down
- Orcanox A modern ambergris molecule. Salty, woody and very long-lasting on skin.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
