Los Angeles
Los Angeles by Gallivant is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with eucalyptus, clary sage, mandarin and pineapple, moves into narcissus and tuberose and dries down to birch tar, guaiac wood, palo santo, cypriol, musk and heliotrope. Expect around 7 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Eucalyptus Sharp, camphorous, clears the head. Reads as clean more than green.
- Clary Sage Softer, sweeter sage with an ambery undertone. Warm and herbal.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Pineapple Tangy, boozy and tropical. Loud and hard to hide.
Heart
- Narcissus Green, hay-like and slightly animalic. Strange and beautiful.
- Tuberose Creamy, waxy and enormous. The loudest white flower.
Dry-down
- Birch Tar Smoked, tarry and campfire-like. The classic way to build leather.
- Guaiac Wood Smoky, tarry and slightly sweet. Like a bonfire and roses.
- Palo Santo Sweet, resinous holy wood. Smoky with a citrus lift.
- Cypriol Also called nagarmotha. Smoky, leathery, earthy — a vetiver relative.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
- Heliotrope Almond, vanilla and powder. Smells like marzipan and old-fashioned makeup.
