What A Day
What A Day by Floraïku is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with saffron, cinnamon, black pepper, coriander and cardamom, moves into rose, peach, pimento, geranium and iris and dries down to suede, vetiver, cypriol, oud, vanilla and cedarwood. Expect around 7 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Saffron Leathery, medicinal and slightly metallic. The signature of modern niche.
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
- Black Pepper Dry and prickly. Gives a fragrance grip and a bit of bite.
- Coriander Warm seed spice, slightly citrusy. A quiet workhorse.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
Heart
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Peach Fuzzy, warm and slightly creamy. Soft rather than sharp.
- Pimento Allspice — clove, cinnamon and nutmeg at once. Hot and rounded.
- Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
- Iris Cool, powdery, slightly carroty and expensive. The luxury note.
Dry-down
- Suede Soft, powdery leather. Much gentler than the real thing.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Cypriol Also called nagarmotha. Smoky, leathery, earthy — a vetiver relative.
- Oud Resinous, medicinal, barnyard-adjacent wood. The most expensive note in perfumery.
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
