Green Tea Cherry Blossom
Green Tea Cherry Blossom by Elizabeth Arden is a feminine-leaning eau de toilette from 2012 in the budget price tier. It opens with green tea, lemon, bergamot, petitgrain, mandarin and almond, moves into cherry blossom, peony, apricot and plum and dries down to birch, musk, oakmoss and heliotrope. Expect around 4 hours of wear, and it projects softly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Green Tea Dry, slightly bitter, calm. Quiet and very easy to wear.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Petitgrain Bitter twigs and leaves of the orange tree. Dry and a little green.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Almond Marzipan and cherry-stone. Sweet with a bitter undertone.
Heart
- Cherry Blossom Delicate, powdery, faintly almondy. Smells far less like cherry than the name promises.
- Peony Pink, watery and slightly peppery. Modern and inoffensive.
- Apricot Warm, jammy stone fruit. Often hiding inside osmanthus.
- Plum Dark, wine-like and slightly stewed. Autumnal.
Dry-down
- Birch Clean pale wood. The leaves, not the tar.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
- Heliotrope Almond, vanilla and powder. Smells like marzipan and old-fashioned makeup.
