Summanus
Summanus by Electimuss is an unisex extrait de parfum in the luxury price tier. It opens with cardamom, bergamot, sweet orange, black pepper, ginger and pine, moves into bulgarian rose, jasmine, amyris, amber and cognac and dries down to sandalwood, cedarwood, cypriol, guaiac wood and tonka bean. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Sweet Orange Juicy and cheerful. The friendliest citrus there is.
- Black Pepper Dry and prickly. Gives a fragrance grip and a bit of bite.
- Ginger Warm, zesty and slightly soapy. Bridges citrus and spice.
- Pine Sappy and bracing. Straightforwardly outdoorsy.
Heart
- Bulgarian Rose Fresh, dewy and green. The 'real rose garden' version.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Amyris Soft, sweet, sandalwood-adjacent. Often stands in for the real thing.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Cognac Boozy, fruity and warming. Richer and rounder than rum.
Dry-down
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Cypriol Also called nagarmotha. Smoky, leathery, earthy — a vetiver relative.
- Guaiac Wood Smoky, tarry and slightly sweet. Like a bonfire and roses.
- Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.
