Pour Homme
Pour Homme by Dolce & Gabbana is a masculine-leaning eau de toilette from 1994 in the designer price tier. It opens with lavender, bergamot, mandarin and neroli, moves into sage, black pepper and pimento and dries down to tobacco, cedarwood, tonka bean and vanilla. Expect around 6 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Neroli Distilled orange blossom. Green, soapy and elegant.
Heart
- Sage Dry, herbal and slightly bitter. Adds a grown-up, aromatic edge.
- Black Pepper Dry and prickly. Gives a fragrance grip and a bit of bite.
- Pimento Allspice — clove, cinnamon and nutmeg at once. Hot and rounded.
Dry-down
- Tobacco Sweet, dried and honeyed. Nothing like a cigarette.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
