Horizon
Horizon by Davidoff is a masculine-leaning eau de toilette from 2016 in the designer price tier. It opens with ginger, rosemary, grapefruit and mandarin, moves into cedarwood, patchouli, black pepper and nutmeg and dries down to vetiver and cocoa. Expect around 6 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Ginger Warm, zesty and slightly soapy. Bridges citrus and spice.
- Rosemary Sharp, camphorous herb. Bracing and clean, borders on medicinal.
- Grapefruit Bitter, slightly sweaty citrus. More grown-up than lemon.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
Heart
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Black Pepper Dry and prickly. Gives a fragrance grip and a bit of bite.
- Nutmeg Warm, woody and slightly sweet. Cosy without being gourmand.
Dry-down
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Cocoa Dry, dusty chocolate. Bitter rather than sweet.
