Cool Water
Cool Water by Davidoff is a masculine-leaning eau de toilette from 1988 in the budget price tier. It opens with lavender, mint and coriander, moves into geranium, sandalwood and neroli and dries down to musk, oakmoss, cedarwood and tobacco. Expect around 6 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
- Mint Cold and tingly. Great in small doses, toothpaste in large ones.
- Coriander Warm seed spice, slightly citrusy. A quiet workhorse.
Heart
- Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Neroli Distilled orange blossom. Green, soapy and elegant.
Dry-down
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Tobacco Sweet, dried and honeyed. Nothing like a cigarette.
