French Bouquet
French Bouquet by BDK Parfums is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with aldehydes, coriander and bergamot, moves into rose, jasmine and orange blossom and dries down to labdanum, tobacco, haitian vetiver, patchouli, violet and sandalwood. Expect around 9 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Aldehydes Fizzy, soapy, slightly waxy. The 'sparkle' at the top of Chanel No. 5.
- Coriander Warm seed spice, slightly citrusy. A quiet workhorse.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
Heart
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Orange Blossom Sweet, soapy and sunny. Neroli's warmer sibling.
Dry-down
- Labdanum Sticky, leathery resin. Dark honey and old books.
- Tobacco Sweet, dried and honeyed. Nothing like a cigarette.
- Haitian Vetiver Cleaner, smokier vetiver with a grapefruit lift. Less earthy than Javan.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Violet Powdery, sweet and a bit retro. Parma Violets in flower form.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
