Opus VII Reckless Leather
Opus VII Reckless Leather by Amouage is an unisex eau de parfum in the luxury price tier. It opens with galbanum, pink pepper, cardamom and nutmeg, moves into oud, patchouli, ambroxan, leather and ambergris and dries down to costus, muscone, sandalwood, frankincense and cypriol. Expect around 10 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.

Opening
- Galbanum Intensely green resin. Smells like snapping a plant stem in half.
- Pink Pepper Fizzy, rosy and bright. Adds sparkle without heat.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Nutmeg Warm, woody and slightly sweet. Cosy without being gourmand.
Heart
- Oud Resinous, medicinal, barnyard-adjacent wood. The most expensive note in perfumery.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Ambroxan Clean, mineral, skin-like warmth. The engine behind most modern 'beast mode' scents.
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
- Ambergris Salty, animal, sun-warmed skin. Marine and musky at once.
Dry-down
- Costus Smells like unwashed hair and warm skin. Deeply strange.
- Muscone Rich, warm, powdery musk. Rounder than the white musks.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Frankincense Bright, peppery, church-like resin. Lifts and cools a fragrance.
- Cypriol Also called nagarmotha. Smoky, leathery, earthy — a vetiver relative.
