Jubilation XXV
Jubilation XXV by Amouage is a masculine-leaning eau de parfum from 2007 in the luxury price tier. It opens with blackberry, bergamot and coriander, moves into honey, frankincense and rose and dries down to patchouli, oud, musk and labdanum. Expect around 12 hours of wear, and it projects very strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Blackberry Dark, jammy and wine-like. Deeper than most berries.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Coriander Warm seed spice, slightly citrusy. A quiet workhorse.
Heart
- Honey Sweet, waxy and slightly animalic. Can smell dirty in large doses.
- Frankincense Bright, peppery, church-like resin. Lifts and cools a fragrance.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
Dry-down
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Oud Resinous, medicinal, barnyard-adjacent wood. The most expensive note in perfumery.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
- Labdanum Sticky, leathery resin. Dark honey and old books.
