Stardust
Stardust by Afnan is an unisex eau de parfum in the budget price tier. It opens with bergamot, mandarin, grapefruit, sweet orange and aldehydes, moves into caramel, cinnamon and cognac and dries down to amber, sandalwood, myrrh, tonka bean, oakwood and musk. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Mandarin Soft, sweet, almost powdery citrus. Gentler than orange.
- Grapefruit Bitter, slightly sweaty citrus. More grown-up than lemon.
- Sweet Orange Juicy and cheerful. The friendliest citrus there is.
- Aldehydes Fizzy, soapy, slightly waxy. The 'sparkle' at the top of Chanel No. 5.
Heart
- Caramel Burnt sugar. Rich, sticky and unapologetically sweet.
- Cinnamon Sweet heat. Reads festive, sometimes to a fault.
- Cognac Boozy, fruity and warming. Richer and rounder than rum.
Dry-down
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Myrrh Bitter, smoky resin. Ancient-smelling and slightly cool.
- Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.
- Oakwood Dry, toasty barrel wood. Closer to a whisky cask than a forest.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
