Highness III by Afnan is an unisex eau de parfum in the budget price tier. It opens with bergamot, cypress and lavender, moves into black pepper, galbanum, cedarwood and petitgrain and dries down to oud, leather and oakmoss. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Cypress Cool, green, resinous conifer. Sharp and clean.
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
Heart
- Black Pepper Dry and prickly. Gives a fragrance grip and a bit of bite.
- Galbanum Intensely green resin. Smells like snapping a plant stem in half.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Petitgrain Bitter twigs and leaves of the orange tree. Dry and a little green.
Dry-down
- Oud Resinous, medicinal, barnyard-adjacent wood. The most expensive note in perfumery.
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
