Edict Ouddiction
Edict Ouddiction by Afnan is an unisex eau de parfum in the budget price tier. It opens with oud, saffron, lavender and bergamot, moves into tonka bean, sandalwood, cedarwood, geranium and tobacco and dries down to leather, patchouli, amber, rosewood and vetiver. Expect around 8 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Oud Resinous, medicinal, barnyard-adjacent wood. The most expensive note in perfumery.
- Saffron Leathery, medicinal and slightly metallic. The signature of modern niche.
- Lavender Herbal, clean, slightly medicinal. Barbershop in one note.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
Heart
- Tonka Bean Almond, hay and vanilla in one. Warm and slightly nutty.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Geranium Rosy and minty at once. Reads masculine more often than not.
- Tobacco Sweet, dried and honeyed. Nothing like a cigarette.
Dry-down
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Amber Warm, golden and resinous. Not a real material — a blend that glows.
- Rosewood Soft, rosy wood. Gentle and slightly floral.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
