Magnolia Nobile
Magnolia Nobile by Acqua di Parma is a feminine-leaning eau de parfum from 2012 in the premium price tier. It opens with bergamot, lemon and citron, moves into magnolia, bulgarian rose, tuberose and sambac jasmine and dries down to sandalwood, patchouli, vetiver and vanilla. Expect around 7 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Citron Thick-skinned citrus, more zest than juice. Waxy and bright.
Heart
- Magnolia Lemony white floral. Bright and clean rather than heavy.
- Bulgarian Rose Fresh, dewy and green. The 'real rose garden' version.
- Tuberose Creamy, waxy and enormous. The loudest white flower.
- Sambac Jasmine Greener, more tea-like jasmine. Less indolic than grandiflorum.
Dry-down
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
