Colonia Intensa
Colonia Intensa by Acqua di Parma is a masculine-leaning eau de cologne from 2007 in the premium price tier. It opens with cardamom, bergamot, lemon and ginger, moves into artemisia and neroli and dries down to leather, cedarwood, patchouli, benzoin and musk. Expect around 6 hours of wear, and it projects at a moderate level.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
- Bergamot Sharp citrus with a faint bitter edge. The opening of about half of all men's fragrances.
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Ginger Warm, zesty and slightly soapy. Bridges citrus and spice.
Heart
- Artemisia Bitter and silvery-herbal. Wormwood, the backbone of a fougère.
- Neroli Distilled orange blossom. Green, soapy and elegant.
Dry-down
- Leather Smoky, dry and a bit animal. Can be a new jacket or an old saddle.
- Cedarwood Dry, pencil-shaving woodiness. Clean and structural.
- Patchouli Damp earth and dark chocolate. Either you love it or it's your least favourite note.
- Benzoin Sweet balsamic resin. Vanilla-adjacent but drier.
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
