Fierce
Fierce by Abercrombie & Fitch is a masculine-leaning eau de cologne from 2002 in the budget price tier. It opens with lemon, petitgrain and cardamom, moves into pine, rose and jasmine and dries down to musk, vetiver, oakmoss and sandalwood. Expect around 7 hours of wear, and it projects strongly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Lemon Clean, sour, instantly recognisable. Bright but burns off fast.
- Petitgrain Bitter twigs and leaves of the orange tree. Dry and a little green.
- Cardamom Cool, aromatic spice with a eucalyptus lift. Smells expensive.
Heart
- Pine Sappy and bracing. Straightforwardly outdoorsy.
- Rose Can be jammy, green, peppery or soapy depending on the type. Not one smell.
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
Dry-down
- Musk Warm, skin-like and slightly sweet. Makes a fragrance feel like you.
- Vetiver Dry, earthy, smoky grass root. Smells like soil and citrus peel.
- Oakmoss Damp forest floor. Bitter, green and the backbone of every chypre.
- Sandalwood Creamy, milky wood. Soft and almost edible.
