The Apartment
The Apartment by Abel is an unisex eau de parfum in the niche price tier. It opens with cherry, rum and cocoa, moves into jasmine, tuberose and gurjun balsam and dries down to myrrh, tolu balsam and vanilla. Expect around 6 hours of wear, and it projects softly.
Notes, explained
Opening
- Cherry Sweet, syrupy and a bit almondy. Currently everywhere.
- Rum Boozy, sweet and warm. Adds a grown-up edge to gourmands.
- Cocoa Dry, dusty chocolate. Bitter rather than sweet.
Heart
- Jasmine Heady, sweet and slightly animal underneath. Rarely subtle.
- Tuberose Creamy, waxy and enormous. The loudest white flower.
- Gurjun Balsam A woody resin from Southeast Asia. Smooth, faintly peppery, and it helps a scent last.
Dry-down
- Myrrh Bitter, smoky resin. Ancient-smelling and slightly cool.
- Tolu Balsam Warm, sweet, slightly cinnamon resin. Rich and rounded.
- Vanilla Sweet, creamy and warm. The most comforting note in perfumery.
